I started Legends of the Shetland Seas in 2007!!! Where in the heck did I put it???? I have searched all over for the pattern, but no luck! Waaaaaa I guess I'll have to reorder the dang thing. Stay tuned. (I really forgot that I started this, yeesh)

Well, lookie here....and I just couldn't wait to test drive this new yarn and "bee" pattern. I love the shading in the wool, from http://www.woolywonkafibers.com/. I just had to wind it off and dig in....Lovely pattern and lovely wool..more to come.

Well, knitters, I was waiting for my "Bee" stuff and started on a sock from "Socks Two" and almost had one sock done !!! Aaaak. Now what do I do?

This book can be purchased at http://www.amazon.com/ and has some really wonderful sock patterns to try.

However, my "Bee" stuff arrived and the patterns are just wonderful and the wool is to "dye" for. Very upscale and I can't wait to wind it up! Think I'd better finish the other sock before I begin these???? I'm still not done with my "Shetland" yet....what to do????

Well, it is done, really, really, done! This shawl was a joy to work on. The pattern was very easy to work with and I found nothing amiss. Thank you, http://www.knitspot.com/ for your wonderful shawl! I'm looking forward to more of the same wonderful patterns. This shawl was done with a size 6 needle from http://www.knitpicks.com/ and Zepher yarn on a cone. I think I have enough to make another one!!!! I'm happily awaiting my "Bee Shawl" pattern and "Bee Stole" with very yummy yarns from http://www.woolywonkafibers.com/ especially dyed for these projects.

Ready for the finish...Corona pattern, here I come!

Well, knitters, I'm excited now. I've reached the "Corona" border and 17 rows to go and then block the little darling....This shawl has been a real treat and I can't wait to see it completed. Yippee. Was informed today that my bee shawl/stole is on it's way via the post. I'm hoping I can finish this one up before I start something new. It's going to be "buzzing" here soon. More to come.

Well, I'm still "morphing".....and it's been a great trip! I've finished the first section of the Morph and ready to begin the second adventure. I love how the Zepher feels...More to come on this. I recently ordered the Bee Shawl and the Bee wrap. More to come about this.... Happy knitting.

Well, knitters, I left my "Shetland Isles" for a while. I did get up to another section and it's going great! However, I found this shawl (pictured) that I just about went nuts for, called "Wing-o-the-Moth" and it's a humdinger! I used size 6 needle and Zepher yarn and the directions you can order from are at www.patterns@knitspot.com , check out her great blog! I'm almost at the second section before I put on the border. It was a lovely read. The pattern is very friendly, thus far. I have my fingers crossed that I can do the next set. The first set is called fir cone and the next one coming up is a twin leaf pattern. If I run into trouble I think I may just continue with the fir cone pattern until I need to do the border, which is the kicker. How lovely is the Corona pattern? You can refer to this pattern in Barbara Walker's knitting book. I also ordered the "Bee" shawl pattern and the "Lacy Shawl" pattern which I will write about when I receive both these patterns. These are knock-out shawls as well. Happy knitting.

Well, knitters, it has taken me quite a while to get to this point. Only two more sections to go. From that point, who knows? I did notice that when I kept switching from bamboo needles to Knitpick's circular needles there was definately a difference. So now I'm staying with the bamboo straights at the moment. However, I'd really like to see this shawl in Knitpick's alpaca, so I'll need to purchase some more wool. I need to make three more of these by Christmas! I should have all the bugs worked out by then, don't 'cha think? I'm not that good at this, but I'm trying.....Explore http://www.knitpicks.com/ for some wonderful wool and bargains.

I also recently purchased "Artic Lace," by Donna Druchunas from http://www.schoolhousepress/ and found a wonderful way the Alaskan knitters block their shawls....using a cardboard blocking board!!! How neat is that? So down to http://www.joanns.com/ to buy one. This is so cool for blocking rectangles!! Well, I'm going to keep at this; who knows I may make my deadline! Happy knitting.

To give you an idea about the Legends of the Shetland Seas by Hazel Carter begins at www.blackberry-ridge.com. It's wonderful place for wool and patterns. This pattern takes 4 oz of Blackberry Ridge Thistledown wool singles and a size #2 needle.

I'm not very good yet at blocking and I've over measured the width but perhaps when I'm finished knitting this shawl, it will work out okay. It's really a beautiful pattern and I love the story that goes with this shawl of "monsters, silkies and Finn folk."

I have been kind of remiss with logging in and blogging. I have so much to do. I'm currently working on a shawl, but haven't had the guts to take a picture of it, 'cause it doesn't look like it should. Maybe I'll be brave tomorrow to showcase it.

Any way, I raked up the yard and kind of put the sweet gum "balls" into a pile (they are just so messy) and just left them there to wallow. Little did I know that this "thing" emerged and I'm not sure what it wants to be when it grows up. Is is a pumpkin? Will it be a squash? I have no idea. However, something has decided that it really likes this plant because blossoms form and then they appear to be snapped off! I'm not sure if I need to put some sort of bug repellent on this or not, or just let it grow and have it take it's chances? Maybe someone will let me know.

I grew up "knitting" and learned how to crochet along the way. However, my strength lies in knitting sitches rather than hooking thread sooooo I must have been a "cotton snob" - I thought that cotton was used for "crochet" items only. Well, this proved me wrong. I wish I had found "Niebling" a long time ago. The artist, Herbert Niebling, a master of his craft, takes you on a journey with twists and turns and finally, at last, a masterpiece. Not that I'm an expert knitter, but this is my first one. I can't wait to try another one.

This doiley is called "Frosted Ferns" and the pattern can be found at www.yarnover.net. Mine was made out of some stash I had, as yellow is not one of my colors, it worked up beautifully. I tried size 2 needle US and liked how it draped.
